Our History

It is no coincidence that Sedona, Arizona has its proximity to one of the most sacred ancient tribes on Earth, the Hopi. They are gentle, peaceful people, who have had the unbelievable tenacity to live the same way they did 1,000 years ago. According to the Hopi, an intermediary named, Maasaw guided them to hold fast to their simple life for it would not only be their salvation but the entire World’s. They have held steadfast to this sacred covenant against insurmountable odds as brutal invaders tried to change them. Maasaw also told them that they would become the microcosm for the entire planet Earth. What happens in the Hopi land will mirror itself in the rest of the World. In his book, The Hopi Survival Kit, Thomas Mails states that, “For almost a century the Elders of Hotevilla, a tiny Hopi village, has been guarding the secrets and prophecies of the Earth and its creatures. Now is the ultimate time in history that the sacred Hopi Prophecy is to be revealed to the outside World.” Our actions now can alter the pace and intensity of what will happen and help avoid a cataclysmic end.” The Hopi tell us to blend with the Land and Celebrate Life. There is a gentle way to survival.

The Hopi’s beliefs are now being reflected by what scientists are telling us in regard to our environmental issues we are facing today. More recently, word has been made by the Maya in Central America that the Hopi are a tribe of the Maya. The Drawing:

The drawing at the top of this page is the famous Road Plan pictograph drawn on a rock wall near Oraibi, in Hopi Land, Arizona, after it was given to the Hopi circa A.D. 1100. Since that time, it has been consulted at regular intervals by the leaders of Oraibi, and then of Hotevilla (A neighboring village). The figure at the lower left is Masaaw, holding his familiar torch in his right hand. With his left hand he holds the reed through which the Hopi emerged onto the surface of the earth thousands of years ago. The circle to the right of the reed represents the Fourth Cycle of the world. The rectangle is the si-pa-pu, through which communication is maintained by all generations. The upper straight line emerging from the rectangle is the materialistic path followed by many peoples. Notice that they hold hands to indicate their unified commitment to the materialistic way of life.

It ends in the wavy line that indicate chaos. The lower straight line is the path the Hopi are told to follow. It is the narrow beam the Traditionalist walk. It ends at an elderly man standing in a tall cornfield. He symbolizes peace and prosperity awaiting those who remain faithful. Along this line, however, there are prophesized major world conflicts. The first two have been fulfilled. The last one is yet to come. After the first two I the vertical line that connects the two horizontal lines. It represents the prophesized exodus of Hopi who gave in to temptation, become Progressives, and abandon the ancient faith. Note that it happens before the third circle, which shows the plain fulfillment of another prophecy in its proper historical sequence. The Road Plan is both a warning an a herald of hope. It tells what should be planned for.
